Mission Statement

Stateline Truck Driving School is committed to preparing students for successful careers in the trucking industry. Through expert classroom instruction, range exercises, and on-road training, we empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their CDL and pursue fulfilling employment opportunities. We are dedicated to providing a respectful, supportive environment where students are treated with integrity.

Program Description

Our Class A Commercial Driver Training Course is designed for students with little or no commercial driving experience. The program includes classroom education, lab instruction, range activities, and on-the-road driving experience. Students will gain the practical skills and regulatory knowledge required to safely operate a Class A Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), including vehicle inspections, proper backing techniques, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines.

Owner, Administration & Faculty

Loyd Stephens is the Owner, Administrator, and Lead Instructor with 20+ years of CDL teaching and truck driving experience. Jennifer Griggs, a CDL Instructor, has 4 years of heavy equipment operation and 3 years of teaching. Melissa Stephens handles admissions and recordkeeping. Hours of Operation

Classes run Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. Saturday classes are scheduled only to make up absences. All make-up sessions must be arranged in advance with the instructor.

Instructional Materials

Students are provided with the Oregon Commercial Driver Manual, logbooks, instructional videos, pre-tests, and quizzes.

Job Placement Assistance

Stateline provides free job placement assistance through a strong network of local and national employers. Guest recruiters often present job opportunities during training. Loyd Stephens manages placement support directly.

Admissions & Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must complete the Student Application Form
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a 5-year driving history
  • Must pass a DOT physical and drug screening
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent—or pass the free “ability to benefit” test offered at the Oregon Employment Department
Admission Notification

Applicants will be notified in writing of acceptance or denial within two business days of the class start date, or within seven days of submitting their application—whichever comes first. Students may enroll until 5:00 PM on the third day of class if make-up days can be arranged. If a mutual schedule cannot be agreed upon, admission will be denied. Refund policies take effect on the first day the student attends class.
